Professional Photography Awards 2011 Nick Melidonis Wins Gold
This dramatic image of hikers battling gale force winds in Patagonia against a backdrop of a stranded iceberg, won gold.
At the recent Australian Professional Photography Awards held in Sydney June , 2011 Nick was runner up for the AIPP ‘Australian Travel Photographer of the Year’. How he managed to prepare his images for this award while dealing with successive facial restructure surgery and recovery, is a tribute to his stamina and positive outlook on life. Nick has won the ‘Australian Landscape Photographer of the Year’ on three occasions.
Silver Distinction Award
Nick also received a silver distinction for his image of running wildebeest during a migration in Kenya. The photograph resembles an abstract painting.
Silver Award
As if that was not enough, Nick also gained a silver award for two balloons at dawn rising above a lone tree in the Masai Mara, Kenya.
Nick was delighted with his results and he was just ‘pipped at the post’ by long time friend and colleague; Mike Langford from New Zealand.
Congratulations to Nick and to Mike.
